Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of Engineer Division, paid an official visit to the Field Engineer Brigade and 8 Field Engineer Regiment, Boo Oya on 05 February 2025.
Upon arrival, the General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by the Commander Field Engineer Brigade Colonel H K P Karunathilaka RSP and the Commanding Officer of 8 Field Engineer Regiment, Major A U Hidellaarachchi RSP USP SLE and honoured with a ceremonial Guard Turnout at the main entrance.
During the visit, General Officer Commanding addressed the troops, in which he highlighted the importance of balancing military and personal life, managing finances amidst the current economic challenges, and maintaining discipline in order to maintain the good image of the Corps. He also emphasized the need to engage soldiers in diverse fields of work.
To commemorate visit, the General Officer Commanding planted a sapling in the Brigade Premises. Further, the Brigade Commander, the Commanding Officer and other respective Officers conducted a comprehensive briefing to the visiting Senior Officer about role and tasks, organizational structure, strength, administration and logistic of the Brigade and the Regiment.
The day’s formalities were culminated with an impressive K9 display and signing of the visitors book.
