VISIT OF THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING ENGINEER DIVISION TO 1 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of Engineer Division, paid an official visit to 1 Field Engineer Regiment on 29 January 2025.

Upon arrival, General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Major D W G I D Somakeerthi USP psc SLE, the Commanding Officer - 1 Field Engineer Regiment, and was accorded a Ceremonial Guard Turnout.

During the visit, the General Officer Commanding addressed the troops, emphasising the importance of military discipline and requirement of grooming personnel for future requirements. Drawing from his extensive experience, ranging from a ground commander to a flag officer in the Army, he shared valuable insights with the presented audience. Following the address, General Officer Commanding and the all ranks of 1 Field Engineer Regiment engaged in an interactive session where a formal tea arrange by all ranks of regiment.

To commemorate the occasion, General Officer Commanding planted a mango sapling in the camp premises, symbolising growth, followed by posed for group photograph to mark the visit.

The General Officer Commanding was briefed by the Commanding Officer on the current status of the regiment’s role and tasks, its strength and future plans as part of the scheduled events. He made positive remarks about the regiment’s current contribution and extended his best regards for future efforts of the regiment.
