VACCINATION PROGRAMME FOR THE 2ND DOSE OF ASTRAZENECA SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS AT BODHI RAJARAMAYA - PANAGODA

On the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, with the supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Force (West), a vaccination project has been coordinated and successfully conducted by Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 01 and 02 August 2021 at Bodhi Rajaramaya, Panagoda.

All the guidance and instructions given by the Commander SF - West were executed by Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Brigadier M Mayadunna RSP USP led Engineer troops with the cooperation of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sri Lanka Medical Corps, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps troops.

With the guidance of Colonel (Dr) Saveen Semage, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services in the Army, Colonel (Dr) Samantha Kumarage, Commanding Officer, ABH - Panagoda, Maj (Dr) Dishani Wijesinghe, 2nd In Command, ABH - Panagoda and all other medical staff have thrown their full weight to make the programme a success.

The Vaccination programme was organized to vaccinate civilians at the shortest possible time and senior citizens were assisted by Army troops till the end of their vaccination. Senior citizens and differently abled people who were unable to walk to the vaccination centre were vaccinated in their vehicles by the medical staff.

8668 civilians vaccinated on the first day and further 6424 civilians obtained vaccines on the second day. All the facilities for civilians were properly arranged at the Vaccination centre, including refreshments. Further, Army Band too provided light music to make civilians comfortable. The arrangements, Facilities and polite and efficient service of the army troops were praised by all those who obtained vaccines.
