UN Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) to Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering

As a part of the high-level UN Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) to Sri Lanka 05 UN representatives visited the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering on Wednesday (22) March, 2023. The UN delegation was headed by Mr. James Victor D’Ercole, and members comprised were Mr. Satvinder Singh Paul, Mr. Mark Flood, Colonel Lawrence Kapina Jabati and Lieutenant Colonel Rajeev. The delegation was accompanied by Director General Overseas Operation Maj Gen Asanga Perera and his staff.

During the visit the Commandant of SLSME Col Krishan Manoharan conducted a presentation on the Vision, Mission and role and task of the SLSME on the training carried out at the school. The Chief Instructor Maj Namal Keerthisinghe briefed the visiting delegation on the course curriculum of the Bomb and Improvised Explosive Device Disposal Course and the UN Mission pre deployment Engineer leg training. Subsequent to the briefings the delegation visited the SLSME Model Room. The visit culminated with a live demonstration on route clearing and area search which is carried out during a routine convoy move.
