On request made by the community of Hambegamuwa area during His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa visit to Monaragala District under the ‘Gama Samaga Pilisadara’ (Discussion with the Village) programme, HE directed Commander of the Army to extend the existing facility of playground at MO/Hambegamuwa Secondary School. Thereby, Commander of the Army tasked Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers to undertake the work. Subsequently, facelift of 100m x 100m playground was given to 6 Field Engineer Regiment by the Major General Nihal Amarasekara the Chief Field Engineer and the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The project commenced on 06 June 2021 and completed the task within a month and handed over the playground to School by the skilled sappers on 13 July 2021 despite the disturbance of heavy rainfall during the construction.
