TIMELY IMPORTANT DONATION COORDINATED BY SEVA VANITHA BRANCH - SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

Another timely important donation coordinated by Seva Vanitha Branch - Sri Lanka Engineers (SVB - SLE) affiliated with Rotaract club of CINEC Campus. The generous donation powered by Rotaract club of CINEC Campus headed by Mr Kavinda Sankalpa, Assistant community service director and coordinator of Sip Saviya project, Mr Minura Amarasekara and all the members. The event closely supervised and assisted by Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara, the president of SVB - SLE.

The traditional education system of the country was crashed upon COVID-19 outbreak and students were unable to schooling, even attend for the private classes. Hence, the online teaching methods were introduced as a different countenance of the education system of Sri Lanka as never before. But the students of such low-income parents are still under huge pressure due to their inability to attend online classes since a majority of them don't have smart devices.

The donation programme named “Sip Saviya” which aims to provide 40 Smart phones to a selected group of children of low-income parents in a school of Padaviya Parakramapura. As it’s first stage, 20 Smart phones have been handed over to selected students in Sampathnuwara National College, Welioya on 22 October 2021.

The donation programme got underway with the presence of Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara, the president of SVB - SLE, Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara USP ndu, the President and all members of Rotaract club of CINEC Campus, Brigadier Dumindu Jayasinghe, Commander - Field Engineer Brigade, Mrs Pushpa Indrani, the Principal of Sampathnuwara National College, Welioya, students, parents and the senior Officers of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The donation programme was held strictly complying to the COVID 19 Health guidelines.
