STUDENTS OF SINGAPORE RAFFLES INSTITUTE VISITS KOKKUTHUDUWAI NORTH DEMINING SITE

Sri Lanka Army Corps of Engineers are the pioneers of clearing Mines in Si Lanka. Sri Lanka Army contribution for Mine free Sri Lanka has been commended world-wide as well as by the United Nations.\r\n\r\nA group of student from Raffles Institute of Singapore visited the Sri Lanka Army Kokkuthuduai North Demining site at Mullaittivu on 21 November 2017 with the approval of the Commander of the Army.The team comprised 56 Students, 06 Teachers and 02 Travel Guides from Aitken Spence Travels (pvt) Ltd.\r\n\r\nCommanding Officer 11 Field SLE, Maj NKBS Jayasekara SLE welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Commander Engineer Brigade, Brigadier SJMAR Seneviratne RWP USP psc, and conducted the demonstration on the Humanitarian Demining process by displaying all three clearance methods Manual, Mechanical and Mine Detecting Dogs.\r\n\r\nThe visitors were clarified their doubt during the question and answer session and interacted with the members of the Sri Lanka Army Humanitarian Demining Unit.The team paid their sincere gratitude to the Sri Lanka Army’s effort to make a mine threat free country by 2020. \r\n
