STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS: ROYAL AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERS COMPLETES F3 MINE LAB SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT EXCHANGE AT SLSME

The Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) had the honour of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Royal Australian Engineers from the Australian Army for a comprehensive workshop on the F3 Mine Lab Detector from 8 September to 11 September 2025. The programme marked another milestone in the strong partnership between the two nations in advancing counter mine expertise and humanitarian demining efforts.

The workshop conducted under the guidance of expert instructors from Royal Australian Engineers, focused on the latest techniques and applications of the F3 Mine Lab Detector. Participants engaged in practical training, discussions and knowledge sharing sessions enhancing their confidence and proficiency in mine detection operations.

The closing ceremony was held on 11 September 2025 where the Commandant of SLSME, Colonel JACS Jagoda psc warmly welcomed the Defence Advisor to the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka - Colonel Amanda Johnston who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with an Australian Delegation. During the event the Australian training team shared their perspectives, providing a comprehensive overview of the outcomes achieved and they specially mentioned that it was a great pleasure to share their knowledge with a group of soldiers who were quick learners.

During the closing ceremony, a special address was delivered by the Defence Advisor to the Australian High Commission who emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and mutual support in the field of military engineering. Her remarks underscored the shared commitment to safety, operational readiness and humanitarian responsibility. The Defence Advisor to the Australian High Commission expressed her pride in gracing the occasion noting with distinction that she is the first Officer from the Royal Australian Engineers to visit the SLSME being the Defence Advisor. Afterwards the delegation paved a visit to the Field Engineering Model Room before concluding their visit to SLSME.

The successful completion of this workshop not only enriched the professional knowledge of all participants but also further strengthened the bonds of trust and cooperation between the Sri Lanka Army and Royal Australian Army.
