The delegation, comprising 04 student officers and 36 Other Rank students representing both the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Air Force, was led by the Chief Instructor of SLAF EODTS. Upon arrival, the group was cordially received by the Commandant of SLSME, Colonel Chamika Jagoda psc, along with senior staff members of the School.
This visit aimed to enhance inter-service knowledge sharing and provide a comprehensive understanding of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detection and disposal procedures employed by the Sri Lanka Army. The demonstration highlighted tactical procedures and modern technologies used in IED disposal operations, offering the students a practical insight into Army-standard EOD responses.
In addition to the live demonstration, the visiting delegation toured the EOD Model Room at SLSME. This facility, equipped with training aids and visual exhibits, allowed for an interactive and immersive learning experience on various types of explosive devices and response techniques.
The visit concluded with a symbolic exchange of mementos between the SLAF delegation and the Commandant of SLSME, signifying the continued cooperation, professional engagement, and mutual learning between the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force in the critical domain of Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
Such collaborative efforts are vital in strengthening inter-service EOD capabilities and fostering a unified approach to national security challenges.
