Under the visionary guidance of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, alongside Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, President of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, a heartwarming book donation programme was launched at the 8 Field Engineer Regiment in Boo-oya, Vavuniya, on Saturday, 04th January 2025, aimed at brightening the futures of 21 children of soldiers.
This initiative sought to enhance educational opportunities, strengthen bonds within military families, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. The children were presented with carefully selected educational gift packs, which included books and essential learning materials. These thoughtful resources were aimed at academic excellence and empowering minds to reach to their full potential.
The success of the programme was made possible gratitude to the generous support of Mr. Kolitha Wickremasinghe, Managing Director of SALOTA International (Pvt) Ltd. His unwavering commitment to supporting military families demonstrated a deep sense of community and responsibility, as they played a pivotal role in shaping the future of these children.
The event was graced by Major AU Hidellarachchi RSP USP SLE, Commanding Officer of the 8 Field Engineer Regiment, along with other distinguished officers of the regiment, all of whom were present to witness and support this remarkable endeavors.
