Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Engineer Division, Presided over an official visit to the 10 Field Engineer Regiment, Myliddy, on 07 February 2025.
Upon arrival, the Overlooking Commanding Officer of the 10 Field Engineer Regiment, Major RRI Rodrigo psc SLE, welcomed the General Officer Commanding. The visit commenced with a ceremonial Guard Turnout at the regimental entrance, showcasing the regiment's discipline and professionalism. To mark the occasion, the General Officer Commanding planted a mango sapling within the regimental premises, symbolizing growth and continuity.
A comprehensive briefing is conducted by the Overlooking Commanding Officer and key Officers, covering the regiment's role, operational tasks, organizational structure, administrative framework, and logistical capabilities. This provided the General Officer Commanding with a clear understanding of the regiment's operational readiness and commitments.
During his address to the troops, Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP highlighted the importance of balancing military responsibilities with personal well-being. He provided valuable insights on effective financial management in the current economic climate and instructed soldiers to be away from online gambling and easy money-earning frauds. Additionally, he encouraged soldiers to engage in diverse fields to enhance their skills and contributions.
The visit concluded with an informal tea session with all ranks, fostering camaraderie and open dialogue.
