The Seva Vanitha Branch of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers organized an awareness programme on prevention of all kind of drugs on 29 July 2021 at Regimental Headquarters - Panagoda. The concept of the programme was a brainchild of chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch Sri Lanka Engineers (SVB - SLE) Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara and keenly directed the programme to educate the troops on existing drug related menace. Accordingly veteran Lecturer and Counsellor Mr Kosala Thotawaththa graced the occasion as the guest lecturer to deliver the timely important lecture on preventing of drugs and all kind of narcotics.
The programme was simultaneously broadcasted over the Zoom technology by connecting all Engineer Regiments and Engineer School to educate more than 450 troops in Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. During the lecture Mr Thotawatta emphasized following salient aspects. They are;
• Definition of drugs. • Vulnerable communities of drugs. • Country profile on drug related offences and addicted percentage of Sri Lanka. • New trends of drugs transport and usage, especially in school.
The programme was benefited and admired by participants due to its existing value for the day to day life. Finally, SVB - SLE Chairperson has extended a memento to Mr Thotawatta on his commendable lecture assistance to rescue troops on existing threat emits of COVID 19.
