At present the Corps, together with the Corps of Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch has launched several projects to ensure the well being of the differently abled soldiers and families of war heroes who had sacrificed their lives and had gone missing during the conflict. Offering scholarships for the beneficiaries of dead, differently abled and serving soldiers, providing financial support to uplift their living standard by donating houses, bathroom fittings and provide medical assistance such as donating wheel chairs, artificial limbs and walking aids are some of the main activities conducts by the Corps of Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch.
18th July 2020 was another significant day for Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Engineers. Under the Coordination of Commander Plant Engineer Brigade, Brigadier NPA Gunawardena RSP, Mr Deepal Samarasekara and Mr Rangana Abeysinghe, a financial donation (Rs. 750 000.00) received from Doctor Chandana Galappaththi to up lift the living standards of Lance Corporal Samantha and his loving family by constructing his house.
Lance Corporal Samantha was wounded due to an Anti-Personal Mine blast during the “Sath Jaya” operation launched to capture Kilinochchi on 13 August 1996 while serving in the 5 Field Engineer Regiment.Due to the explosion his right leg was amputated below the knee and his left leg was fractured and severely injured and then he retired on 18 May 2009 due to medical reasons.
