Walallawita Divisional Secretariat Division has been identified as a high risk area due to Covid 19 pandemic situation. The under privileged families in the area have been severely affected due to the recent flood caused in the area. Identifying the necessity Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Engineers organized a worthy donation to distribute dry ration packs and sanitary items among people.
The President of Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Engineers initiated the donation programme to distribute 100 dry ration packs inclusive of rice, milk powder, coconut, dhal, biscuits, sugar, flour and tea leaves. In addition donation packs included sanitary items namely toothpaste, tooth brush, soap, liquid washing powder and face masks. Moreover, children of families were gifted with dresses and toys. Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara President Seva Vanitha Branch presented at the event and handed over donation packs to doorsteps for selected ten of families. The donation programme coordinated by 12 Field Engineer Regiment troops deploy under 612 Infantry Brigade in Kalutara District. The donation programme was sponsored by Mrs Nalani Pallewela, Mrs Ridmi Amarasekara and fund sources were coordinated by Mrs Anoma Walgama.
Lieutenant Colonel Tissa Herath USP SLE, SO 1 Veteran Affairs, Major Priyantha Kodithuwakku psc SLE, Commanding Officer 12 Field Engineer Regiment, Captain Praveen Suraweera coordinator Seva Vanitha Branch attended the event while minimum number of officers and soldiers participated from 12 Field Engineer Regiment strictly complying to the Covid 19 Health guidelines.
