The Annual Friendly Sappers Cricket Encounter took place for the sixth consecutive year on 12 December 2020 at the Sappers Cricket Stadium Mattegoda. The event was organized by the 14 CBRN Regiment. Major General Jagath Gunawardena, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers graced the event as the Chief Guest together with the participation of Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
The T20 match was held between two teams, the Maroon Sappers team led by Major Genaral Chinthaka Gamage and the Blue Sappers team led by Major Genaral Jagath Gunawardena. Maroons won the toss and elected to bat first and completed the 20 overs by setting a target of 270 runs for the loss of five wickets. The Blue Sappers scored 183 runs for the loss of four wickets and losing to Maroons who emerged as the champions reaching a comprehensive win by restricting the Blues.
