RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL KMU WIJERATNE USP ndu, ACCORDED WITH A FAREWELL PARADE AND DINNER AT THE HOME OF SAPPERS
Major General KMU Wijeratne USP ndu, popularly known as \"Udayantha\" among their associates, enlisted to the Army on 24 May 1982 as an Officer Cadet and served for more than 34 years of unblemished service in his illustrious career in the Army. Major General KMU Wijeratne is due to retire from the Sri Lanka Army on 1 November 2016. During his military carrier, he held number of key appointments in the Army and finally held the appointment of the Commander Security Force Headquarters (East).
Major General Udayantha Wijeratne USP ndu was received by the Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel AHLG Amarapala RWP RSP psc at 0930 hrs on 28 October 2016 at the main entrance of Corps Headquarters and initially he inspected the guard turn out. Thereafter he was accorded with the Guard of Honour at the Parade Square.
Just after the Guard of Honour the Tea Party was arranged at the Officers\' Mess where the Chief Guest was greeted by all sapper officers, relatives & friends of the Chief Guest present.
Farewell Dinner was hosted to the retiring Major General Udayantha Wijerathne by the Colonel Commandant, Major General HCP Goonetilleke RSP VSV USP ndc psc and All Officers of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers from 1930 hrs at the Officers\' Mess RHQ SLE. The occasion was graced by number of Senior Sapper Officers and Sapper Officers with their spouses which brought a glamour to the final event of the day.
