HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, together with the Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe in a special felicitation ceremony on 18 May 2015 at Temple Trees recognized the invaluable contribution of the Sappers to Nepal government as a part of Sri Lanka’s Rescue & Relief contingent for the earthquake.
I recognition of this service the president awarded mementoes to Brigadier H J S Gunawardena RSP USP psc Commander Engineer Brigade (Deputy Commander of the contingent) and Sappers of the contingent
President Maithripala Sirisena lauded the Sri Lankan Contingent and expressed his gratitude for their best performances in Nepal and congratulated them for their achievements. The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude and congratulated the contingent.
