OFFICIAL VISIT OF MAJOR GENERAL S P G GAMAGE RWP RSP USP GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING ENGINEER DIVISION TO SRI LANKA SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING

Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, conducted an official visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) on 03 February 2025. He was warmly welcomed by Colonel J A C S Jagoda psc, the Commandant of SLSME. Upon his arrival, General Officer Commanding was accorded the customary military honors, including a Guard Turnout, before commencing his official visit. In a symbolic gesture to mark the occasion, General Officer Commanding also planted a mango tree at the premises, signifying the growth and prosperity of SLSME and the continued development of its personnel and infrastructure.

During the visit, General Officer Commanding addressed the permanent staff and course students of the SLSME. He underscored the importance of education, discipline, and the maintenance of high training standards, emphasizing that producing quality outcomes is crucial for upholding the proud traditions of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. Additionally, General Officer Commanding highlighted the challenges of balancing military duties with family life, as well as the importance of managing personal finances effectively, stressing the need for holistic development in the military profession.

Following his address, General Officer Commanding toured several key facilities at SLSME, including the newly established Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Equipment Yard, the Earth Moving and Construction Plant Model Room, and the recently renovated Young Officers’ Accommodation. These improvements reflect the ongoing commitment to providing infrastructure to enhance the professional development and welfare of the personnel at the establishment.

Before concluding his visit, General Officer Commanding penned his complimentary remarks in the visitors’ book at the “Totupala” premises, expressing his satisfaction with the progress made at SLSME. He commended the dedication of the staff and personnel, and was presented with a memento by Commandant as a gesture of appreciation for his visit.

This visit reinforced the continued growth and development of SLSME under the leadership of the Engineer Division, highlighting the institution’s vital role in shaping the future leaders of the Sri Lanka Engineers Corps.
