NEWLY RENOVATED HOUSE DONATED TO LANCE CORPORAL SAMANTHA’S FAMILY BY SEVA VANITHA BRANCH CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

The newly renovated house donated to S/236700 Lance Corporal Samantha Sandun MSA at on 25 October 2020 at Galatha- Gampola. The house was constructed under the close supervision of Mrs Sagara Gunawardena, the president of Seva Vanitha Branch, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Lance Corporal Samantha was wounded by a bomb blast during the “Sath Jaya” operation launched in the Paranthan area in Kilinochchi on 13 August 1996, while serving in the 5 Field Engineer Regiment. His right leg was amputated below the knee and his left leg was fractured and severely injured due to the blast and then he retired on 18 May 2009 on medical grounds.

Finally, the dream of Lance Corporal Samantha and his family became reality due to the donation made by Doctor DC Galappaththi. The fund sources coordinated by Commander Engineer Brigade, Brigadier Pradeep Gunawardena and the house which donated was constructed by the troops of 5 Field Engineer Regiment.

The programme was conducted adhering to health safety guidelines and social distancing practices.
