NEWLY RENOVATED HOUSE DONATED TO CORPORAL (DECEASED) NANDANA’S FAMILY BY SEVA VANITHA BRANCH CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

The newly renovated house donated to Corporal (Deceased) Nandan’s family on 08 November 2021 at Kuruwita area. The house was constructed under the close supervision of Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara, the president of Seva Vanitha Branch, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The soldier, Corporal (Deceased) Nandana AWD accidently dead during a military training at Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka in Kukuleganga. Due to demise of the soldier, his wife and two little daughters came across with many difficulties in finding a way to live. Hence, Seva Vanitha Branch - SLE took necessary actions to complete the construction works of their half built house to make them safe and comfort.

The dream of Corporal (Deceased) Nandana’s family became a reality due to the timely actions taken by Seva Vanitha Branch - Sri Lanka Engineers. Mr Darshana Egodawaththa and Mr Aruna Kodikara were also contributed for this noble effort with the invitation of Brigadier Mangala Mayadunna RSP USP. The house which donated was constructed by the troops of 4 (V) Engineer Regiment and the troops of 16 Workshop Regiment were organized the opening ceremony and the gift packs, including essential house hold items.

In the meantime, monthly basis two scholarships have been awarded to Nandan’s daughters to facilitate their future career. The scholarships were sponsored respectively by Dr. Mrs. Indira Wijesundara, spouse of Lt Col (Retd) W R H K Wijesundara USP SLE from Australia.

The simple ceremony of house opening got underway with the presence of Mrs Shiromi Amrasekara, President of Seva Vanitha Branch - Sri Lanka Engineers (SVB - SLE), Major General Nihal Amarasekara USP ndu, the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Chief Field Engineer, Major Upul Nayanananda RSP USP, the Commanding Officer - 16 Workshop Regiment SLE, Major Sampath Fernando, the Commanding Officer - 4 (V) SLE and family members.

The programme was held strictly complying to the COVID 19 Health guidelines.
