On the directions of the General Officer Commanding 61 Division, 12 Field Engineer Regiment established new Quarantine Center in National College of Education at Darga Nagar, Aluthgama, to accommodate COVID 19 suspected civilians. The first lot arrived from Next Manufacturing Pvt Ltd on 11 October 2020 with 157 civilians including 92 males and 57 females. These civilians will be quarantined for two weeks of time at this Center.
Later on Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division visited Dharga Nagar Quarantine Centre to witness its situation. Brigadier Nishadth Karunapala, The Commander, 612 Brigade also accompanied by him.
He was received by the Commanding Officer of 12 Field Engineer Regiment, Major Prasantha de Silva and shown around before brief account on its present situation to the visiting GOC.
