12 Field Engineer Regiment took over the procession of Sandahiru Seya Pinnacle and Crest Gem from escorted to the Kalutara Bodhiya on 20 August 2021. Since then due to existence of island wide lockdown the sacred pinnacle and the crest gem was positioned at the Kalutara Bodhiya and conducted religious services for forty days by the regiment under the close supervision of the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade. The religious procession carrying the sacred pinnacle and the crest gem of Sandahiru Seya commenced its journey from Kalutara Bodhiya am hours on 01 October 2021 and reached the Ahungalla Sri Pulinathalaramaya at pm hours.
The Bodhi Puja was conducted and the sacred pinnacle and the crest gem was placed at the Ahungalla Sri Pulinathalaramaya temple premises to display for the Buddhist devotees. All-night Pirith Chanting was conducted and following day morning the religious procession was handed over to 14 (Volunteer) Gamunu Watch after offering heel dhana for maha sanga to continue the programme.
The General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division Major General Dammi Hewage graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Commander 612 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Subhashana Liyanagama, Senior Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of 12 Field Engineer Regiment attended the event with strict compliance to the Covid 19 heath guidelines.
