Major General A L D M Gunasekera RSP USP psc, Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc and Major General D S Weerasekera USP, more popularly known as Lal , Dhananjith and Dhammika among their associates, warmly welcomed by the home of Sappers, where three senior officers were accorded with Guard of Honours at the Regimental Headquarters Parade Ground on 17 February 2016 in honour of their promotion to the rank of Major General.
Three Senior Officers were received by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Nihal Amarasekara USP at main entrance and were accompanied to the Parade Ground. Major General Lal Gunasekera was firstly accorded with the Guard of Honour followed by the Major General Dhananjith Karunarathne and Major General Dhammika Weerasekera respectively.
The occasion was marked with a Tea Party at the Officers Mess where three Chief Guests were greeted by all officers witnessed the occasion. Presently Major General Lal Gunasekera is holding the appointment of Rector Southern Campus of Kotelawala Defence University, Major General Dhananjith Karunarathne is holding the Chief Field Engineer and Major General Dhammika Weerasekera is holding the Director of Research and Development.
