INTER UNIT DRILL COMPETITION 2024 OF THE CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES

Inter Unit Drill Competition 2024 of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was concluded on Tuesday, 25th September 2025 at the Regimental Centre SLE with its signature grandeur, reaffirming its status as one of the most prestigious and eagerly anticipated events on the Corps’ annual calendar. Renowned for its impeccable standards, precision, and competitive fervour, this esteemed competition serves as a stage for the finest soldiers to exhibit their discipline, and drill excellence.

Major General T C Peiris RSP USP, the Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army graced the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Brigadier F Joseph USP, the Centre Commandant SLE.

The climax of the event unfolded as trophies and certificates were awarded to the Best Drill Platoon, Runners-Up Platoon, Best Platoon Commander, and Best Drill Instructor, recognizing the outstanding performances of the competition's top contenders. All Engineer Units competed rigorously, and after a thorough analysis of marks by an independent panel of judges, the best results were finalized as follows:

Best Drill Platoon – 4(V) Engineer Regiment SLE

Runners-Up Platoon – 5 Field Engineer Regiment

Additionally, the competition recognized the exceptional performances of the following individuals:

Best Platoon Commander – Second Lieutenant A M A N Ariyananda SLE of 4(V) Engineer Regiment SLE

Best Drill Instructor – S/244006 Warrant Officer II Ihalagedara I G S B J of 9 Field Engineer Regiment

The awarding ceremony was further dignified by the participation of Senior Officers, all Commanding Officers of Engineer Units, Officers, and Regimental Sergeant Majors, whose attendance reflected the significance of this esteemed competition.
