HUMANITARIAN DEMINING MANAGEMENT COURSE SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

Humanitarian Demining Management course which was specially designed for the officers in the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was held from 10 to 20 March 2016 in Boo-oya Vavuniya with the participation of 21 Sapper Officers and all successfully completed the course.The course was conducted by 8 Field Engineer Regiment under the direct guidance and supervision of Engineer Brigade. Aim of this course is to educate the officers on aspects of Management of Humanitarian Demining operations to increase the operational effectiveness and efficiency to achieve the aim of the Mine Action. The Course curriculum was consisting with following: 1. Humanitarian Demining and Mine action Programme 2. General Mine action Assessment 3. Introduction of IMAS 4. Non-Technical and Technical Survey 5. Introduction to GPS 6. Battle Area Clearance 7. Land Release Operation 8. Mine Detection Dogs 9. Use of Mechanical Assets for HDM 10. Maintenance and Repair of MV4 and BOZENA Machines 11. Mine Action Investigation
