Having identified the much needed welfare necessity with the guidance and the supervision of the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade, Troops of 12 Field Engineer Regiment launched a house construction project for needy family in Welipenna. The father who committed suicide due to suicidal hanging in Welipenna area is being closely assisted by the troops of 12 Field Engineer Regiment providing dry ration packs twice a month, the family had no houses to live and they resided in a rented house.
The house is constructed at Mathugama Divisional Secretariat Area. The doner assistance arranged by the Divisional Secretary Mathugama. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.3 million.
Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander Security Force West as the Chief Guest on 22 May at the invitation of the 612 Infantry Brigade Commander graced the warming of the new house where keys were delivered to the beneficiary, Mrs. Madasami Manjula and his family during a simple inaugural ceremony.
The GOC 61 Infantry Division, the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade, District Secretariat Mathugama, Officers and Other Ranks of 12 Field Engineer Regiment together with relatives of the family participated in the housewarming ceremony.
