HEARTWARMING BOOK DONATION PROGRAMME: FOSTERING EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT BY SLE SEVA VANITHA BRANCH

Under the guidance of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, and Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, President of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, a remarkable book donation programme was successfully organized on 12th December at the Regimental Centre, SLE. Their shared vision aimed to enhance educational opportunities for 123 children of soldiers and strengthen community ties within military families.

This commendable initiative was realized through the generous sponsorship of Mr. Kolitha Wickremasinghe, Managing Director of SALOTA International (Pvt) Ltd, and his dedicated team. Their unwavering support underscored a strong commitment to the welfare of military families and their children. The programme was organized as part of the anniversary celebrations of SALOTA International (Pvt) Ltd, held on 2nd December. Adding to their achievements, SALOTA International (Pvt) Ltd was honored with the Best Large-Scale Entrepreneur Award 2024 in the Western Province.

The educational gift packs distributed during the programme were valued at approximately Rs. 8,250/—each and comprised a thoughtfully curated selection of books and educational aids. These resources aim to empower children in their academic journey, fostering a passion for learning and providing essential tools to excel in their studies. Beyond academic support, this initiative instilled a sense of belonging and community among the families of soldiers, reinforcing the strong bond between the military and their loved ones.

The event stood as a poignant reminder of the collective power of compassion and collaboration in uplifting those who serve the nation. Through this meaningful gesture, the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch reaffirmed its ongoing dedication to enhancing the welfare of soldiers and investing in the next generation of leaders.

The programme was attended by the Centre Commandant and staff officers of the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
