GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING, ENGINEER DIVISION VISITED PROJECTS AT SOUTHERN PROVINCE AND KALUTARA DISTRICT

The General Officer Commanding, Engineer Division Major General M K Jayawardena RSP USP ndu inspected the progress of Projects which are being conducted by 1, 5 and 12 Field Engineer Regiments and 12 (V) Engineer Services Regiment in Southern Province and Kalutara and district from 24 January 2022 to 26 January 2022. The visiting General Officer Commanding was received and accompanied by the Brigade Commander, General Engineering Brigade, Brigadier P P A Perera psc Hdmc and briefed the existing progress of the projects. During the three day visit following renovation of playgrounds projects at Yatiyana Primary School, Lihiniyawa Primary School, Ihala Hewessa Primary School, Galagoda Janapada Primary School, Yattapatha public ground and Cricket ground RHQ MIC, Karandeniya. Renovation of road construction projects of Kosgasdeniya-Nelum Uyana road, Dehigasmulla-Helaba road, Batahena-Milagahawita road, Nilweligama road, Mederipitiya-Dobagoda road, RHQ SLACAL, Karandeniya, General Engineering Brigade road construction Project and KDU, Southern Campus road construction project and ground preparation at 1 SLAGSC, Agriculture farm at Kuttigala were inspected during the visit.

The General Officer Commanding has revived the progress instructed troops to expedite the progress of work and to meet the stipulated completion dates. Colonel Project General Engineering Brigade, Commanding Officers of 5 and 12 Field Engineer Regiments and 12 (V) Engineer Services Regiment and Overlooking Commanding Officer 1 Field Engineer Regiment also participated for the visit.
