ENGINEER OFFICERS\' EARTH MOVING AND CONSTRUCTION PLANT COURSE (EOEM&CP) ENDS AT BOO OYA

Engineer Officers Earth Moving and Construction Plant (EOEM & CP) Course commenced on 2 January 2017 at the Engineer Brigade headquarter premises at Boo - Oya and terminated on 29 January 2017. Commander Engineer Brigade, Brigadier S J M A R Seneviratne RWP USP psc made the opening remarks. Eighteen (18) officers of Corps of Engineers were successfully completed the course, out of which seven Officers (7) were awarded instructor grading at the Closing Ceremony. \r\n\r\nThe defined objectives of the course are as follows:\r\n\r\n• Impart Knowledge on the basic designs, limitations, capabilities and employment principles of construction equipment. \r\n\r\n• Development of decision making capacities to select the most efficient equipment for specific tasks under different conditions. \r\n\r\n• Employment of engineer equipment effectively and efficiently to obtain optimum output in construction and demolition projects. \r\n\r\n• Develop capabilities to plan, execution and management of horizontal engineer projects independently. \r\n\r\n• Impart knowledge on mechanical function and maintenance procedures of equipment in order to reduce repair and maintenance cost.\r\n\r\n• Develop the instructor ability to perform as a plant engineering instructor. \r\n\r\nThe distribution of certificates and course end was marked by Chief Field Engineer, Major General GDI Karunarathne RSP psc on 29 January 2017.\r\n\r\nEOEM & CP Course 01/2017 was the first well designed Plant Engineering Course conducted for officers of the Corps in the recorded history. To mark the event, the Boo-Oya tank was constructed as a symbol with contribution of student officers. \r\n \r\n
