The CBRN first responders’ basic course 01/2024 at Naval & Maritime Academy - Trincomalee visited Sri Lanka Army CBRNE Response Regiment - Mattegoda on 16 May 2024 in order to gain perception of role, tasks and responsibilities of Sri Lanka Army CBRNE Response Regiment as a leading first responder of CBRNE scenario in land operation.
The event unfolded presentations, CBRNE equipment display and educational discussion on as per the guidance of the Commander Engineer Division and the supervision of the Commanding Officer of 14 CBRNE Response Regiment, the session was conducted related to the responsibilities and capabilities of the Army CBRNE Response Regiment.
The Program was commenced with the welcome and introductory speech, delivered by Major M J Salgado RSP USP SLE, the Commanding Officer of 14 CBRNE Response Regt SLE. Followed with the response procedure of Army CBRN and our responsibilities in the national disaster response plan, conducted by Major Y A M K Yapa psc SLE, Officer Commanding of the CBRN Response Squadron. Then introduced the equipment and capabilities of Army CBRN Responders by Major S K A B L Senarath SLE, Officer Commanding of the EOD Squadron before commence the discussion session which facilitated the exchange of capabilities, knowledge and experiences of both forces. The display of CBRNE equipment was held at last and it exposed to deliver the capacity of Army CBRNE Response Regiment.
Finally, the CBRN first responders’ basic course 01/2024 of Sri Lanka Navy consist with an Officer and 23 Other Rankers appreciated the hospitality and then extended their gratitude for the knowledge sharing and the experiences which was gain on CBRN field by the educational tour at the Army CBRNE Regiment at Mattegoda
