DISASTER MANAGEMENT TEAMS OF 6 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT GIVEN THEIR EARLIEST SUPPORT TO RESCUE MISSION IN BUWELIKADA COLLAPSED BUILDING INCIDENT.

At around 0500 hrs on 20th September, a five story building has collapsed at Buwelikada area in Kandy due to inclement weather experienced. Three individuals were rescued (including one and half month baby) with the tremendous effort of 2 x 20 Sappers disaster management team in collaboration of sister regiments, Air Force and Police rescue teams.

As the responsible disaster management unit to the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) AOR, 6 Field Engineer Regiment team was executed their professional experience to face this challenge with zero damage to own troops and evacuate casualties with minimum time.
