CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS MARKS ITS 68TH ANNIVERSARY

The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers celebrated its 68^th Anniversary on a grand scale at the Regimental Headquarters Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Panagoda on 06 November 2019.

A Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade was accorded to the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc, at the Regimental Headquarters. Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc on his arrival to the Corps Headquarters was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier N K L S R Dias RSP and accorded with a Guard Turn out. Afterwards, he laid a floral wreath to the war heroes’ monument and then he was bestowed with a Parade.

During the Guard of Honour the Colonel Commandant Maj Gen H J S Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc addressed the gathering and mentioned the supreme sacrifices made by fallen Sapper Heroes and disabled Sappers to protect the integrity and sovereignty of Sri Lanka. As well as he extended his gratitude for the commitment of officers and men in uplifting the standard of the Corps. He highlighted the extraordinary contribution of the Sappers in the demining tasks, nation building tasks and disaster relief operations. Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated at this event demonstrating their high note of Esprit de Corps.

Subsequent to the Guard of Honour an All Ranks Lunch was organized to coincide with the 68th Anniversary ceremonies. The Chief Guest of this event was the Colonel Commandant and a large number of Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks participated for this function.
