CORPS OF ENGINEERS COMMEMORATES 64TH ANNIVERSARY

The Corps of Engineers marked the 64 anniversary on 9 November 2015. Major General H C P Goonetilleke RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers graced the commemorative events as the Chief Guest in the company of all senior Sapper Officers. A Guard of honour and a Ceremonial Parade were presented to the Colonel Commandant of the Corps by the Sappers on 09 November 2015. Major General Channa Goonetilleke, on arrival at the premises was received by the Centre Commandant Brigadier Nihal Amarasekara and was accorded with the Guard Turn-Out in keeping with the ceremonial military customs. The ceremonial parade accorded to the Colonel Commandant was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel S P G Gamage RSP USP SLE, Commanding Officer of the 1 Field Engineer Regiment. During the customary address of the Chief Guest to the Sapper troops, Major General Channa Goonetilleke paid a worth mentioning tribute to all Sapper troops for their dedication towards nation building. Thereafter the Colonel Commandant partook the all rank lunch at the Sappers Mess of the Home of Sappers.
