In the Commemoration of the 25th Death Anniversary of late Major General JKN Jayakody USP, the foundation stone laying for the construction of a new house for a veteran Sapper living in Delvita, Kurunegala was held on 19 October 2024 with a simple ceremony.
This noble initiative is being executed under the visionary leadership of the Commander Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc. It is organized in partnership with the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, led by Mrs. Surangi Amarapala. The construction and administration support is provided by the troops of 1 Field Engineer Regiment on the instructions and supervision of the Commanding Officer 1 Field Engineer Regiment; Major Gayan Somakeethi USP psc SLE.
The financial sponsorship for this charitable initiative has been generously provided by the son of late Major General Nihal Jayakody; Mr. Bathiya Jayakody who is a renowned singer, songwriter, and Co-founder of BNS with a kind heart and a blessing to his father’s soul with a good deed.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the Deputy General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, the Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, the Plant Engineer Brigade Commander, officers, other ranks, and the beneficiary family and their relatives.
