COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTER (WEST) DECLARE OPEN THE SUSPENSION BRIDGE AT WELIPENNA DIKPITIYA
On the instruction of Commander Security Force Headquarters (West), 5 Field Engineer Regiment undertook the project of constructing the suspension Bridge at Welipenna - Dikpitiya on 10 September 2015 which terminated on 25 February 2016. Under the supervision of Commander Engineer Brigade Brigadier S J M A R Seneviratne RWP USP psc, 5 Field Engineer Regiment constructed the bridge within 5 months and declared open by the Commander Security Force Headquarters (West) Major General S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc on Thursday 25 February 2016. Chief Field Engineer Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc, Commander 585 Brigade and some of the Commanding Officers were present at the opening ceremony.
