THE COMMANDER PLANT ENGINEER BRIGADE MADE A FIELD VISIT TO PROJECT SITES OF 1 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

On September 4, 2024, the Commander Plant Engineer Brigade, Colonel K A S J Kodithuwakku USP ptsc, made a field visit to project sites of 1 Field Engineer Regiment, under the SFHQ (WEST) Area of Responsibility.

The field visit commenced with a briefing regarding ongoing projects, by the Commanding Officer, Major D W G I D Somakeerthi USP psc SLE, and the Officer Commanding, 14 Plant Squadron, Major S K T L Samarasinghe SLE. During this visit, the Commander Plant Engineer Brigade visited the following project sites of 1 Field Engineer Regiment.

a. Removing of two old buildings & leveling of ground at Defence Service Command and Staff College.

b. Excavation & leveling of Ananda College cricket ground.

c. Renovation of the internal road network at SFHQ (WEST).

d. Laying tar at RHQ SLAGSC & 1 SLAOC.

e. Excavation and leveling of ground for constructing two pre-fab buildings at Habarakada.

Moreover, The Commander Plant Engineer Brigade was provided an overview and on-site briefing of the plant engineering tasks being undertaken within the Area of Responsibility and the current status of each project according to guidelines of the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division. The Brigade Commander visited several key project sites to assess the work being carried out personally. During his visit, he interacted with the troops and appreciated the present works at the project locations, engaging in discussions about the priority of work and economically done the projects. He also took this opportunity to provide vital instructions concerning operational safety and best practices, ensuring that the teams maintained the highest standard of discipline.
