THE COMMANDER - FIELD ENGINEER BRIGADE MADE HIS FIRST UNIT VISIT TO 9 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

The Brigade Commander of Field Engineer Brigade, Colonel F Joseph USP made his first visit to 9 Field Engineer Regiment after taking the office of Commander Field Engineer Brigade, Boo-Oya few days back and the set of events unfold on 31 January 2024.

Commanding Officer of the 9 Field Engineer Regiment Lieutenant Colonel DGEMRB Dhammanthota psc SLE warmly welcomed the the Brigade Commander prior to the offering of Guard Turnout. A series of formal events were held to make his visit meaningful. Thereafter, unit briefing was conducted by Commanding Officer on current operational commitments, Field Engineer Tasks, Progress of Humanitarian Demining and Plant Engineer Tasks.

Brigade Commander addressed All Ranks of 9 Field Engineers Regiment and emphasized the necessity to work hard while maintaining outstanding discipline at every time. In order to make this moment unforgettable; he marked his visit to 9 Field Engineer Regiment by planting a sapling at camp premise. Then he attended a tea party hosted at the Sappers’ Mess with gathering of All Ranks. During his camp visit, he witnessed the living standard of soldiers and civil servants while inspecting provided utilities to uplift men’s living standard.

Further, he witnessed Humanitarian Demining operations and its progress during the visit to Battle Area Clearance site at Kilinochchi University South. During this visit, he appreciated the commitment of sappers to make Sri Lankan soil free from the threat of land mines.
