COMBAT ENGINEERS TO ASSIST DISASTER RELIEF OPERATION IN NEPAL
Officers and Soldiers of Corps of Engineers left Colombo Bandaranayake International Airport along with the Sri Lanka Army Rescue and Relief contingent to Nepal on 26 April 2015 at 0530 a.m. by an air craft of Sri Lanka Air Force to assist the victims of earth quake. 6 Officers and 49 Sappers were selected for this task and they joined the said contingent with all required engineer equipment in order to assist the victims.\r\n \r\nAn earthquake-struck Nepal on 25 April 2015 at a magnitude of 7.8 which claimed at least 1400 lives in the densely-populated Kathmandu valley.\r\n
