To enhance the readiness of Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) first responders through updating the latest knowledge and practicals, 14 CBRNE Response Regiment has organized a Refresher Programme of CBRN Response under the supervision of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering from 06 to 12 December 2024 at Home of Sappers, Mattegoda.
This program was aligned with the Officers’ Advanced CBRN Response Course 02/2024, aimed to refresh the knowledge of first responders, introducing new advancements in the field, and foster a deeper understanding regarding the role and tasks of stakeholders. The programme was unfolded with discussions, practical sessions on radiation detection, and interactive learning experiences. The success of the programme was driven by the invaluable contributions of the following stakeholders:
Central Environmental Authority
Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board
Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory council
National Authority for Implementation of the Chemical Weapon Convention SriLanka
“Suwa Seriya” Ambulance Service
Fire Service Department
Disaster Preparedness and Response Division in Ministry of Health
During the program, each participant had the unique opportunity to explore the importance of collaboration between the first responders and stakeholders to strength the CBRN response. The sessions underscored the collective effort required to address modern challenges in CBRN response, emphasizing mutual support and shared expertise among stakeholders.
