BOOK DONATION PROGRAMME ORGANIZED BY CORPS OS SRI LANKA ENGINEERS SEVA VANITHA BRANCH

As a gesture of goodwill and charity, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the corps of Sri Lanka Engineers organized a book donation programme to the children of differently abled engineer soldiers who have bravely fought to achieve the eternal peace to the motherland through the violent war which the country suffered for 3 consecutive decades.

At a time when many in our society have lost humane values, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch is working towards enhancing the quality of life of families who lost their lives at battlegrounds and for those families who got injured and disabled during the missions.

As an important step in this initiative, the event of book donation was organized for children of disabled soldiers at the Headquarters, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers with the participation of a cross section of selected children along with their parents. It was organized as a complete nonprofit charity event with glamour and grace.

Honorary sponsorship for the event was granted by the Nithyakalyani Jewellers (Pvt) Ltd in collaboration with the Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The donation included 100 numbers of gift packs consisting stationaries and a school bag. Mr Jayaraj, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nithyakalyani Jewellers and his fellow staff members were welcomed by a traditional perahera as they have participated the event as the guest of honours.

The event was held under the patronage of Mrs Sagara Gunawardena, the President of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch while the Commandant SLAVF and Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General HJS Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his presence to the event.

The event was also distinguished with the arrival of former Colonel Commandant Maj General S Ranasighe(Retd) and Mrs Iromi Ranasighe, president of Seva Vanitha Branch of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers in the tenure of 2017-2018. Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe has taken the valued initiation in coordinating this event and liaising the well-wishers. The members of Seva Vanitha Branch of Corps of Engineers were also graced the occasion as guest of honours.

Awarding of gifts were carried out by the President, the past president of Seva Vanitha Branch, and guest of honour Mr. AP Jeyaraj, the CEO of the Nithyakalyani Jewelers. Following the awarding of the gifts, a token of appreciation has been offered to the Nithyakalyani Jewelers on the humble support rendered in succeeding the event.
