ASSUMING DUTIES OF THE 14TH COMMANDING OFFICER OF 9 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Lieutenant Colonel Bandara Dhammanthota psc SLE assumed duties as 14th Commanding Officer of 9 Field Engineer Regiment on 22nd November 2023 at Headquarters of 9 Field Engineer Regiment, Kokavil with a formal ceremony.

The incoming Commanding Officer was warmly received by Major Gayan Somakeerthi USP psc SLE, the Second in Command of the 9 Field Engineer Regiment and saluted in the guard turnout followed by laying of floral tribute to the fallen war heroes. Later, he took over duties by signing official document amidst Seth Pirith chanting. As a military tradition, he was invited to add memories by planting a “Mango” sapling and followed by troop address. Subsequent to the address, newly appointed Commanding Officer had an interaction with the troops during the all ranks tea held at Sappers Mess.

Second in Command, all Officers and Other ranks attended the occasion and extended warm wishes to the Commanding Officer.
