ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF SEVA VANITHA BRANCH CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS CONCLUDES WITH GLAMOUR
Annual General Meeting of Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, was held on 9 December 2017. It was presided over by the President Mrs Iromi Ranasinghe at a grand ceremony held at the Regimental Centre SLE Panagoda. Forty three spouses of serving officers including Executive Committee members of the branch gathered for the ceremony.
The proceedings commenced with a special donation programme for the children of serving soldiers of the Corps. Hundred packages of book lists with stationeries, school bags and milk powder packets were donated to school children of needy families with many children, by the Members of the Seva Vanitha Branch.
A special donation was made to L/Cpl Upali BM who was blessed with triplets. Financial donation of Rs: 15,000 with baby care items was donated by the Colonel Commandant and the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc and Mrs Iromi Ranasinghe. Nan milk powder packets and diapers were donated by the members of Seva Vanitha Branch.
Subsequently, the Annual General Meeting took place at the newly constructed Conventional Centre of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. A documentary on past events during this year was presented to the membership to recollect, highlight and appreciate the efforts of the members to uplift the lives of dependants of fallen war heroes, differently able and serving soldiers. Mrs Iromi Ranasinghe congratulated the membership for the achievements made, mainly through sponsorships and donations. She also mentioned that the “Service to the Soldiers†was the priority of our branch of Seva Vanitha.
Mrs Rathna Pushpa Kumari, the invited guest speaker, conducted a lecture on issues relevant to an Army spouse and spoke on how to face the challenges, as a courageous Army wife.
A record number of ladies participated for the programme and added lots of colour to the occasion. On the invitation of Mrs Iromi Ranasinghe, past presidents of Seva Vanitha branch graced the event. The evening of entertainment was exciting with many air tickets to be won at the raffle draw with valuable consolation prizes offered. Dancing competition, karaoke competition and exciting games gave the winners many prizes and surprises to take home.
