ALL NIGHT PIRITH CHANTING AND AN ALMS GIVING ON 62 CORP\'S DAY\r\n\r\nAn all-night Piritha Chanting Ceremony followed by an alms giving was held at the Regimental Centre on 09 and 10 November 2013 in compliance with the 62 Corp\'s Day. Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers, Major General Crishantha De Silva, senior serving and retired Sapper Officers, a large number of Sappers and family members of the fallen Sapper Heroes attended the event.\r\n\r\nThe Pirith Ceremony commenced with the monks being ushered into the venue in a colorful pageant. The Pirith Chanting Ceremony was followed by an alms giving to 62 Buddhist monks in the following morning. Religious blessings were invoked on the heroic Sapper personnel who were killed in action while safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.
