65TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE SRI LANKA SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING

In upholding the motto of “Motherland Honour and Service”, the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering which was raised at Konduwattuwana on 05 May 1958 has been instrumental in producing Officers and men in the Corps of Engineers with the required field engineering knowledge to effectively perform engineer duties since its inception.

The Sri Lanka Army School of Military Engineering reached the milestone of its 65th anniversary on 05 May 2023. As the 05th of May coincided with the Vesak Poya Week, the celebrations events of the 65th Anniversary were held on 12th and 13th of May 2023.

On 12 May 2023, the staff of SLSME provided the afternoon alms to the Kusuma Home for the Elders and to the Orphanage in Embilipitiya. Subsequent to the lunch provided to the Elders Home and Orphanage, a Bodhi Pooja was conducted in the evening at the Budhu Medura at SLSME to invoke blessings to the school.

On 13 May 2023, as a customary gesture a guard turnout was awarded to the Commandant of SLSME Col MKV Manoharan USP. Following the Guard Turnout, the Commandant addressed the staff of SLSME at the main lecture hall. In his address, the Commandant thanked the previous Commandants and all officers and other ranks who tirelessly worked hard to bring the school to its present position. The Commandant emphasized the importance of the commitment and dedication of the staff to continue the efforts laid down by the predecessors of SLSME.

Subsequent to the Commandants address, an all ranks lunch was held at the SLSME Corporals club in commemoration of the 65th Anniversary. Finally, the celebrations culminated with a musical evening, which was held at the SLSME cricket grounds with the participation of all ranks of the SLSME.
