5 FIELD ENGINEER TROOPS CONTINUES ASSISTING OF DISASTER RELIEF OPERATION AT GENERAL AREA EGODAGAMA

As per the direction by Commander 142 Infantry Brigade and under the supervision and the ground command by the Commanding Officer 5 Field Engineer Regiment, 3 x 75 Troops of 5 Field Engineer Regiment, involved with continued and assisted disaster relief operation mechanism initiated by the Seethawaka Divisional Secretariate during consecutive two days on 03rd and 04th June 2024.

Accordingly, troops involved with clearing debris in fully damaged civilian residences, clearing debris at Sri Sangamiththaramaya and Bethel Chapel Church, and facilitated vehicle movement by removal of fallen trees along Sri Sangamitharamaya Road.

Meanwhile, 5 Field SLE troops contributed assistance with manpower for Municipal Council Colombo for clearance of 17 Nos of drinking water wells at the village, Municipal council Awissawella for placing two 5000 L drinking water tanks along the Darmapala Mawatha Egodagama and Ceylon Electricity board Awissawella for restoration of Electricity at Egodagama Village. Simultaneously, troops assisted Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat officials for surveying and measuring proceedings of 25 Nos of damaged houses at Egodagama village caused by adverse weather conditions.
