THE 5 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT'S COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY WELFARE THROUGH A SHRAMADANA CAMPAIGN

The troops of the 5 Field Engineer Regiment organized a Special Shramadana Campaign to clean the surroundings of Thusitha’s Elderly Home - Mattegoda on 13 September 2024, in line with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.

This programme was conducted under the guidance of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander, Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and under the close supervision of the Overlooking Centre Commandant, Colonel B A M P Balasooriya RSP. A total of 5 Officers and 30 Other Ranks from the 5 Field Engineer Regiment actively participated in the cleaning programme, contributing towards the upkeep of the Elderly Home.

This initiative served as a reminder of the Army's role in fostering goodwill and solidarity within the community. The efforts of the 5 Field Engineer Regiment were met with gratitude from the members of the elderly home, highlighting the importance of such community service projects in building strong relationships between the military and civilian communities.
