In response to the strike by trade unions of Para medical, Nursing, and minor staff of the Base Hospital Homagama and Divisional Hospital Athurugiriya, 5 Field Engineer Regiment which is under command to 142 Infantry Brigade, presently performing Internal security duties at Ministers’ office, official residences, and riot control duties. Troops were deployed at the Hospitals on 01 February 2024 and continuing with aiding on second consecutive date on 02 February 2024, to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services at the hospital.
This action was taken at the instruction and the guidance of the Commander 142 Infantry Brigade, aiming to free from inconveniences of essential medical services to the public.
This proactive measure aims to provide crucial support and maintain the seamless operation of healthcare services.
