On 23 February 2025, the 4 (Volunteer) Engineer Regiment SLE celebrated its 114th anniversary with a variety of exciting activities at the camp in Borupana, Rathmalana. The events were held from 21 to 23 February 2025, honored the unit's remarkable history and customs while symbolizing its pride, dedication, and unity. The entire programs were organized under the leadership and oversight of Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel H P U Dasanayake USP SLE.
On February 21 and 22, Inter Squadron Cricket Tournament was held at the camp to commence of the celebratory festivities while on the 22 February 2025 evening, a pirith chanting was organized for blessings to the regiment's sustained prosperity and unity. On 23 February morning, the monks were offered the morning breakfast alms.
Following a series of military formalities, including the acknowledgment of the Commanding Officer's involvement with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, Adding further significance to the occasion, the Commanding Officer addressed the troops to inspire and motivate all ranks. The celebrations culminated on with a battalion parade symbolizing the unit's strength and unity. Marking this memorable day, Senior Officers, Officers, and all Other Rankers of the unit posed for a photograph.
The all ranks lunch, while officers and other rankers encourage a strong sense of fellowship, created another opportunity to highlight the unity and bond among the all ranks. Afterward, for the teams and players who won the cricket tournament, were awarded the trophies and medals during at the get together night on 23 February 2025.
In addition to commemorating its illustrious history, the 114th anniversary festivities of the 4 (Volunteer) Engineer regiment SLE emphasized the professionalism, dedication and relationship of its staff. The regiment's strong traditions and readiness for satisfying future challenges with unwavering commitment were highlighted by the successful conclusion of this milestone event.
