Colonel J A C S Jagoda psc assumed office as the 35th Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering at his office on Monday, 18th November 2024, in accordance with military traditions and customs. Upon arrival, Colonel J A C S Jagoda psc was accorded with a Guard Turnout and warmly welcomed by the Chief Instructor, Major LLCS Cabraal psc SLE at the Headquarter of SLSME.
The Chief Instructor introduced the SLSME Staff and Key Appointment holders to the newly appointed Commandant. Afterwards he participated in religious observances of Buddhist faith as members of the Maha Sanga commenced chanting seth pirith and invoking blessings on his new appointment. Colonel J A C S Jagoda psc placed his signature for an official document, signifying the acceptance of his office. Giving a symbolic importance to the day, the new Commandant then was invited to plant a tree sapling in-front of the headquarter complex.
Setting out his scope of work and duties, Colonel Chamika Jagoda addressed the troops and outlined the importance of working as a team for the prosperity of the institution and promotion of the SLSME image. Moreover, the Commandant emphasized that everyone should work towards a common goal, and individual success is measured by the success of the team and also the training is not just a necessity, but a continuous process. Must train troops with a purpose. He highlighted the importance of professionalism in training, the proper handling of subordinates, and the development of SLSME infrastructure to a new era.
To conclude the day’s itinerary, the Commandant interacted with Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Sappers during the tea at the NCOs’ Club.
