The Central Environment Authority (CEA) recently organized a comprehensive workshop for licensed industries to enhance the knowledge and safety practices within the Chemical industry. The workshop took place on June 25th and 26th 2024 at the Auditorium of Central Environmental Authority, targeting executive-level participants. The workshop aimed to provide crucial information and training on safe chemical management, an essential component for maintaining safety standards and preventing hazardous incidents.
Responding to a request from the Commander of the Army, 14 CBRNE Response Regiment training team conducted a focused session on chemical storage, transportation, and safe handling. This program was carried out under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, with close supervision from the Commanding Officer of the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment. Their expertise ensured that the training was comprehensive and relevant to the industry's needs.
During the workshop, participants were trained on several critical topics. The session began with an overview of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the importance of proper labeling for chemicals, which are vital for ensuring safe handling and awareness of potential hazards. Following this, the training session was covered the correct procedures for chemical storage, maintaining appropriate conditions to prevent accidents and ensure safety. The workshop also included a detailed discussion on the usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), providing participants with essential information on how to protect themselves from chemical exposures.
In addition to the above topics, the training addressed safe transportation methods for chemicals, outlining the procedures and best practices to minimize risks during transit. This was particularly important for industries involved in the logistics of hazardous materials. The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where many participants expressed their interest in further collaboration with the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment. They requested assistance in formulating and evaluating their emergency plans, underscoring the practical value and applicability of the training provided.
The Deputy Director of the Central Environment Authority expressed his sincere gratitude to the Commander of the Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers for their coordination and support, which contributed significantly to the success of the event. The workshop not only imparted essential knowledge and skills but also reinforced the commitment of both the CEA and the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment to enhancing safety and preparedness within the chemical industry.
